Westford Corporate Center
In the mid-1980s, Gillespie and Co., Inc. and Old Stone Development
Corporation purchased an 18.55-acre parcel of land near Route
495 in Westford, Massachusetts. The nationally recognized architectural
firm of Sasaki Associates designed two companion 83,000-square-foot,
two-story buildings, which are approached through a tree-lined
allée.
Intel Corporation pre-leased the majority of the first building
for its regional headquarters. Within six months, Digital Equipment
Corporation pre-leased the entire second building as its North
American manufacturing headquarters, and subsequently took the
balance of the first building.
The completed project was sold to CIGNA Insurance for $16,900,000,
the highest price per-square-foot at the time for any project
on Route 495.
